Fact

Digital has a footprint, too. Every email receipt lives on servers that draw on electricity and water around the clock. A paper receipt is made from a renewable resource that is responsibly managed and cared for. 

Paper is sustainable, circular, and recyclable.

A digital receipt is the safer, more private choice.

Fact

A paper receipt asks nothing about you. To text or email one, a store needs your contact information, which can be stored, shared, or exposed in a breach. Paper proof stays in your hand, not in a database. Paper is the private and proven way.

Myth

Receipts are coated in BPA and aren’t safe to handle.

Fact

The receipt industry has moved away from BPA. A growing number of PRCA members go a step further, choosing phenol-free formulations that skip BPA and its common substitutes altogether, consistent with the standards for chemical composition set in PRCA’s Good Manufacturing Practices.
